Chickamauga Battlefield Bus Tour
This event is no longer on sale.
Join Keith S. Hebert, PhD., Assistant Professor and Public History Program Officer at Auburn University, and the Bartow History Museum, on a Civil War ride through North Georgia.
Meet at the Bartow History Museum for coffee, juice, and light breakfast snacks at 8:15 am before loading onto the private charter bus and heading north to the Chickamauga Battlefield in Catoosa County, GA on the anniversary of this important battle.
The Battle of Chickamauga (September 18 – 20, 1863) was the first major battle of the Civil War fought on Georgia soil, resulted in the second-highest number of casualties after the Battle of Gettysburg with a total of 34,624 reported, and is considered a Union defeat (if perhaps a pyrrhic one) with Lt. Gen. James Longstreet driving a third of the Union Army from the battlefield.
In addition to a tour of the historic battlefield, Dr. Hebert, an expert in local Bartow county Civil War history, and staff from the Bartow History Museum, will talk about significant locations, individuals, and events from the area on the way to and from the battlefield.
Lunch is included in the ticket price.
To show appreciation to our members, all members will receive 10% off of their ticket price upon completing their checkout.
An individual Bartow History Museum membership starts at just $30 and, if bought at the same time as this ticket, will apply to this purchase.
If you join us for a second event like one of our Sip 'n Strolls on September 26th or December 5th the membership discounts will start adding up!
